Seed priming with NaCl improves germination in maize under saline soil conditions

چکیده
Soil salinity is considered crucial for seed germination, seedling growth, and crop production in arid semi-arid regions. Seed priming can be an effective solution to improve maize germination under stress. An experiment was conducted study the effect of with NaCl stress on growth variety Arun-2. Before sowing, eighty seeds were soaked 5g/L aqueous 12 hours at 27-degree Celsius. Primed unprimed sown 10-liter capacity plastic pots watered 200mL 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 g/L saline solutions two days intervals. Germination percentage, shoot length, number leaves per plant measured access parameters. The results showed that significantly (P<0.05) improved seeds. Whereas, Arun-2 not affected by Salinity has negative impacts length leaves. 38 DAS found longest level 0 mg/L (8.61cm) it shortest highest i.e. (3.12 cm). Increasing salt severe effects maize, both during vegetative stages plant. alleviated inhibitory maize. Thus, 5 could useful conditions.

Germination under Saline Conditions’
Three mutant strains of Arabidopsis thaliana var Columbia were selected for their ability to germinate in elevated concentrations of NaCI. They were not more tolerant than wild type at subsequent development stages. Wild-type strains could not germinate at concentrations >125 mM NaCI. l w o of the mutant strains, RS17 and RS20, could withstand up to 225 mM, whereas RS19 was resistant to 175 mM....

متن کاملThe Influence of NaCl Priming on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Canola (Brassica napus L.) Under Salinity Conditions
A laboratorial study was carried out to investigate the effect of NaCl priming on seed germination and seedling growth of canola. Canola seeds were primed with 1% NaCl solution for 24 hours, at 20°C. Then primed and non-primed seeds were irrigated with seven different saline solutions consisted of 0 (control), 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00, 1.25 and 1.50% concentrations of NaCl. Results indicated that...
متن کاملFilm coating with sodium alginate improves seed germination of sweet corn (Zea mays var. Saccharata) under osmotic stress conditions
Drought stress influences seed germination and seedling growth of many plants. Seed coating is technique of covering seeds with adhesive agents to improve seed performance and plant establishment and could be used to alleviate the negative effects of osmotic stress. In order to solve the problem of low germination and poor vigor of sweet corn under osmotic stress conditions (0, -0.3, -0.6 and -...
متن کاملMitochondrial AtTrxo1 is transcriptionally regulated by AtbZIP9 and AtAZF2 and affects seed germination under saline conditions
Mitochondrial thioredoxin-o (AtTrxo1) was characterized and its expression examined in different organs of Arabidopsis thaliana. AtTrxo1 transcript levels were particularly high in dry seeds and cotyledons where they reached a maximum 36 h after imbibition with water, coinciding with 50% germination. Expression was lower in seeds germinating in 100 mM NaCl. To gain insight into the transcriptio...
